Less Than 1 Hour From Farm To Processing Plant

  (MALAYSIA, 5/12/2011)

From hatchery to processing plant, Blue Archipelago integrated shrimp farm operates according to stringent biosecurity standards which allows to maintain top quality every step of the way.

Blue Archipelago advanced harvesting technologies and internal processes allows harvesting and moving the shrimp from farm to processing plant in under one hour. This ensures that there is minimal environmental exposure to the shrimp, hence retaining the highest product freshness possible.

The warm tropical climate of Malaysia allows for year round shrimp farming

The farm leverages on seawater cultivation which is internationally accepted as yielding better tasting and healthier shrimp. The salinity of the seawater is treated accordingly before being discharged to ensure that the local environment is not affected.

Blue Archipelago shrimps grow according to a chemical-free process without any antibiotics or hormones; this allows preserving the natural taste and texture while ensuring they remain safe for consumption.

The Kerpan farm has already received the certification from the Malaysian government that allows the shrimps to be exported to the EU

The warm tropical climate of Malaysia allows for year round shrimp farming. Blue Archipelago’s ponds have staggered stocking and harvesting plans that ensure consistent supply of shrimp year round. The fully lined ponds ensure higher biosecurity and a more rapid turnaround for pond stocking. It also guarantees that the shrimp colour is dark and consistent all year round.

i-SHARP (Integrated Shrimp Aquaculture Park) is an innovative approach to organize shrimp aquaculture production en a more effective manner. Blue Archipelago has developed two i-SHARP’s, IN Kerpan and Setiu. i-SHARP Kerpan is located in the North West of Peninsular Malaysia and i-SHARP Setiu is located in the North East of Peninsular Malaysia. Both facilities are fully integrated with hatchery, grow out ponds, a feed mill and a processing plant.

On both farms, superior freshness and quality is maintained by having one of Malaysia's most advanced processing plants located within minutes of harvesting

Since 2007, Blue Archipelago has earned a reputation for being a reliable supplier for high quality seawater shrimp. From harvest to home, pond to plate, Blue Archipelago is well regarded in local and international markets for consistently producing a fully traceable shrimp.

Blue Archipelago also takes a strong stand on community based projects contributing directly to the development of rural communities through employment and education opportunities.
