Maintaining high standards while meeting labor challenges
Océan Délices is a family-owned seafood processing company based in Boulogne-sur-Mer, the heart of Europe’s seafood processing industry. Founded 20 years ago, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering fresh prepared seafood products under the credo, "The art of beauty and goodness." Their products are distributed to supermarkets and wholesalers across France and neighboring countries, with a focus on maintaining the highest quality standards.

As demand for their products grew, Océan Délices faced a key challenge: how to optimize their manufacturing process to increase productivity while reducing their reliance on manual labor. Labor availability and reliability were becoming increasingly difficult to manage, and the company needed a more efficient, automated solution to ensure consistent product quality and improve overall yields.
To tackle these issues, Océan Délices sought to enhance their slicing and packaging processes for their marinated salmon fillets, a flagship product. The company wanted a solution that could streamline operations, maintain high quality standards and make them less dependent on the challenges of manual labor.
Salmon Scanning Slicing
After seeing a video of the I-Slice technology in action, General Manager Guillaume Ducamp explained that our strong reputation as a slicing specialist meant we were their first choice."From the beginning, Marel provided us with the best solutions to meet our specific needs,"Ducamp shared. "Marel technology allowed us to optimize our processes and achieve the quality and efficiency we were aiming for."
Océan Délices chose Marel’s I-Slice 3400, a precision slicing line designed to produce perfectly portioned marinated salmon fillets. Our I-Slice 3400's advanced three-dimensional fillet analysis and automatic plate transfer system made it the perfect fit for their needs. This technology allowed them to efficiently slice their marinated fresh salmon with unparalleled accuracy.
By implementing our solution, Océan Délices experienced several transformative improvements. Their production capacity significantly increased, with the new slicing line now producing around 14 tonnes of finished marinated salmon fillets annually. The precision of our slicing technology also enhanced the presentation of their fillets, reinforcing the company’s commitment to "The art of beauty and goodness." Additionally, automation streamlined key processes, reducing the need for manual labor and helping Océan Délices overcome workforce challenges while boosting overall operational efficiency.

Before committing to the project, Océan Délices participated in remote slicing tests at our production center in Støvring, Denmark. The results of these tests were so successful that they felt confident in moving forward with the I-Slice 3400.

As Océan Délices continues to grow, Marel remains committed to supporting their future goals with innovative technology and dedicated service. Together, we are driving the next chapter in seafood processing, ensuring that Océan Délices remains a leader in the industry.
