The company, which is part of the Culmarex Group, will be able to install 12 new floating pens off the municipal district of Pulpí, in Almeria.
This project includes the installation in the sea of 12 fattening pens of 28.6 meters in diameter and 3 auxiliary pens, in an occupation area of maritime-terrestrial public domain of 594.062 m2 annexed to the 24 that the facility currently occupies, according to what is included in the resolution consulted by Europa Press.

The installation will finally be constituted by 36 pens that will occupy a perimeter of 90 meters. Each one of the pens contemplates a volume of 11,000 m3 for farming, while nine pens will be destined to despesques, with which they will have 16 m of diameter and 1,600 m3 of volume.

After the expansion, the company expects to produce a total of 4,500 tonnes, production that would be reached in phases. It foresees reaching figures close to the maximum authorized production from the fourth year after installation. The extension will be carried out in one phase, while the introduction of the juveniles will be carried out according to the production plan.
In this project the facilities on land will be those already existing in the town of Águilas (Murcia), headquarters of the Culmarex Group, as well as the entire fleet of vessels destined for the activity will have their berth in the fishing port of Águilas.

The production process begins with the reception of juveniles on the farm, which are transported from the hatchery in a special boat prepared for this purpose and landed directly in pens anchored at sea. Then the process of fattening in the sea begins until the specimens reach their commercial size.
