KONGSBERG Provides Integrated Vessel Concept for Pelagic Trawler Newbuild
(NORWAY, 6/12/2017)
KONGSBERG has signed a contract with maritime technology company Havyard Ship Technology for the delivery of a complete FISHMASTER® Integrated Vessel Concept for a newbuild pelagic trawler. The vessel is a collaborative effort between Havyard Ship Technology and the Paris based fishing company France Pélagique.
The vessel is developed in close cooperation with Dutch ship designer ASD, and will represent the latest technology for sustainable fishing and efficient processing of pelagic species such as herring, mackerel and blue whiting. The innovative FISHMASTER® from KONGSBERG will represent a completely new manner of operating an advanced trawler, combining vessel manoeuvring with fish finding equipment, winch systems, catch monitoring systems and energy handling, enabling increased operator comfort for efficient fishery operations.
FishMaster dual integraded operator station.
The new vessel will have several innovations both in terms of safe working conditions for the crew and energy efficiency. The Integrated Vessel Concept from KONGSBERG will simplify operations from the bridge, where all KONGSBERG systems are operated by a common trackball, and large screens will provide an overview of all vital images depending on which vessel operation is being executed.
By combining vessel manoeuvring with fish finding equipment, winch systems, catch monitoring systems and energy handling into one concept the FISHMASTER® is a reality.
"We are honoured to have been chosen for this major integrated vessel delivery. Our goal is to provide the customer with operational benefits through fewer components, possibilities for multi-functional equipment use and advanced support tools resulting in more efficient fishery," comments Espen Liset, Vice President Fishery, Aquaculture & Research, Global Sales & Marketing, Kongsberg Maritime.
Composite video-wall supporting both picture-in-picture and expanding a single source over multiple monitors, the operator can configure wall layout, select preset wall layout and also can control a selected source.
The trawler, which will measure a total of 80 meters, is expected to be delivered in December 2018, replacing one of the two French flagged trawlers built in the early 80s, owned by France Pélagique. The contract includes an option for one additional vessel.
