Caleta Bay Algae & Insects.

Trout Fed with Algae and Insects

  (CHILE, 4/8/2024)

In the wild, trout feed on algae, insects, fish and microorganisms. The rich premium food that Caleta Bay's fish from in southern Chile consume contains algae oil from Veramaris, grown in land-based farms, and organic insect meal from Food4future, which allows to balance the use of marine resources, contributing to their natural regeneration.

This helps to reduce dependency on industrial fishing (main source to get fish oil/meal for feed production) helping to regenerate and conserve wild fish population. By purchasing just 40 boxes of Caleta Bay's Algae & Insects products, you are helping to conserve 3.166 lb of wild fish population. This product line embrace and promotes also Caleta Bay's sustainable initiatives, with a primary focus in the regenerative concept.

The company's production systems have minimal impact on the environmen.

This first one, from a line of products, embraces and promotes Caleta Bay’s sustainable initiatives, with a primary focus on regenerative aquaculture, empowering and educating consumers about the importance of sustainable food through tangible actions, all while having fun. Cured with just the right balance of sugar and Atacama’s desert salt and smoked the same day of harvest with eco-friendly oak chips from Europe.

Caleta Bay promotes an innovative project to plant kelp, which oxygenate and regenerate marine ecosystems, in addition to capture carbon emissions, thus contributing to the recovery of new species in the southern coasts of Chile.

In the wild, trout feed on algae, insects, fish and microorganisms.

In this journey towards the preservation of the oceans, Caleta Bay reconize the transcendental importance of establishing partnerships with allies who not only share the company's vision but are also committed change agents for the cause.

This year the company started planting kelp in its own farming sites, helping to regenerate marine ecosystems.

About Caleta Bay

Established in 1989,
Caleta Bay was born from the initiative of one family who wanted to bring high-quality trout to consumers outside of Chile. The company now exports to markets in Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. Caleta Bay provides customers a line of flavorful products which can be used for a variety of seafood recipes.

The company's production systems have minimal impact on the environment and Caleta Bay is constantly looking for ways to incorporate innovative technology and strict quality regulations into its farming operations. Caleta Bay makes concerted efforts to protect and maintain the environment adjacent to its fish farms. The company consistently monitors areas in order to handle any issues that may arise from its fish production. The company will continue to focus on environmental care, constant improvement, social responsibility, and commitment to its clients.
