Klaas Puul to build new shrimp processing plant
(NETHERLANDS, 1/31/2017)
The board of directors of the producer and supplier of fishery products, Klaas Puul B.V., plans to build a shrimp processing plant in Volendam.
The company's executives made the decision mainly due to the ever increasing hygienic requirements and the need to adhere to the highest BRC certification standards.
According to the company, the new factory will have a surface of 5,506 m2, where the packing lines will be installed.
The current thawing and cooking facilities will be moved to Edam, in northwest Netherlands, adding another 2.000 m2 to this factory.
Although the idea for these construction plans where already present in 2012, the need of a new factory in Tangier (Morocco) force the company to postpone Volendam plans.
Under various white labels, Klaas Puul supplies almost all major retail organizations in the Netherlands, France, Belgium, Germany and other countries. In addition to a wide range of shrimp and prawn, it also supplies other types of fish (frozen).
Klaas Puul expects to open the new headquarters in Volendam next year, when the firm will celebrate its 50th birthday.
