The NASF FAO African seminar will focus on African export opportunities and market access into Europe
Africa Will be Present at the 7th NASF

Invited by FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department; 7 African coastal nations will attend the North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) business arena March 6-8 for the first time.
A delegation of around 30 African officials and seafood industry leaders will come to Oslo to take part in the NASF on 6th-8th March; headed by Ministers from Ghana, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique and Namibia, and top Ministry Officials from Angola and South Africa.

This African FAO seminar will give NASF delegates an up-to-date insight into the fisheries and aquaculture sectors in these regions, and a unique opportunity to meet, interact and discuss business opportunities with key Ministry officials and seafood industry stakeholders from these African nations – all in one venue.
FAO African seminar March 8th will focus on two main themes: African export opportunities and market access into Europe; and Opportunities for investments and financing of the fisheries and aquaculture industries in Africa.
A number of top executives from well know African fishing companies and institutions will - or may - join these national delegations and be part of the ever growing NASF global business arena including big players such as Irvin & Johnson; Oceana Group, Viking Fishing, Pescanova (Africa), Sea Harvest, South African Deep Sea Fishing Association, Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and others.
In January, Jorgen J. Lund, NASF Managing Director; and Erik Hempel, FAO Consultant, visited South African and Namibian Ministries of Fisheries and major fisheries companies and stakeholders in the region and we were very well received everywhere.

Conference Address: Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources , Hon. Bernard Esau, Namibia will give the Conference address on behalf of the 6 African nations with the theme: Southern African region fisheries business opportunities.

Dr. Lahsen Ababouch, Director, FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Policy and Economics Division will present the Outlook for African fisheries and aquaculture, and opportunities for business and investments.

Tore Nepstad, CEO, Institute of Marine Research, Norway will give an update of the 35 year old Nansen program for sustainable fisheries in Africa and show us the outlook for further engagement on this Continent.
- Pierre Charlebois, Canadian Consultant on agriculture and fishery markets and models , (formerly on assignment to OECD), will gaze into the crystal ball and show us the Outlook for fisheries and seafood in a global food context – Results from FAO /OECD forecasts.
