Catches in the Sea of Okhotsk and Bering Sea

Sea of Okhotsk (pollock)

According to OSM data in the Sea of Okhotsk, the catch of pollock (industrial and coastal fisheries) as of 03/31/2024 produced 698,405 tons, including Kamchatka users caught 294,909 tons (week ++18,302 tons), development - 80.1% of quotas 368,224 tons; compared to 2023 indicators -12,390 tons less (in 2023, the catch was 307,300 tons), including:

  • in the North Sea of Okhotsk subzone, the total catch amounted to 238,214 tons, incl. Kamchatka - 89,196 tons;
  • in the Western Kamchatka subzone 271,907 tons were produced, Kamchatka - 106,247 tons;
  • 177,726 tons were produced in Kamchatka-Kurilskaya, Kamchatka – 103,468 tons;
  • 10,559 tons were produced in the East Sakhalin subzone, Kamchatka - 745 tons.

Kamchatka users also fished the following main types of aquatic biological resources.

Sea of Okhotsk (Pacific herring)

The harvest (catch) of Pacific herring in the North Sea of Okhotsk was carried out by 18 vessels, the quotas of 12 users were mastered, the catch amounted to 53,784 tons compared to 2023 figures - an increase of +28,629 tons (in 2023 the catch was 25,155 tons). In the Western Kamchatka subzone, herring fishing was not carried out (seasonal ban).

Sea of Okhotsk (cod)

In the Sea of Okhotsk (West Kamchatka and Kamchatka-Kuril subzones), since the beginning of the year, 35 vessels have been fishing for cod; In 2023, the catch is 3,626 tons).

Bering Sea and Eastern Kamchatka (Pollock)

Since the beginning of the year, 14 vessels have operated in the West Bering Sea zone with a quota of 2 users, the catch amounted to 12,575 tons (in 2023, the catch was 21,788 tons).

In the Karaginskaya subzone, 29 vessels operated under a quota of 6 users, the catch was 13,438 tons (in 2023, the catch was 5,447 tons).

In the Petropavlovsko-Komandorsky subzone, 59 vessels operated under quotas of the 31st user, the catch amounted to 38,432 tons (in 2023, the catch was 29,021 tons).

Karaginsk subzone (Pacific herring)

Herring fishing was carried out by 10 vessels under quotas of 4 users, the catch amounted to 5,845 tons (in 2023, the catch was 3,436 tons).

Bering Sea and Eastern Kamchatka (Cod)

In the West Bering Sea zone, 14 vessels operated under a quota of 2 users, the catch amounted to 2,504 tons (in 2023, the catch was 3,101 tons). In the Karaginskaya subzone, 31 vessels operated under quotas of 5 users, the catch amounted to 2,861 tons (in 2023, the catch was 4,288 tons). In the Petropavlovsko-Komandorsky subzone, 56 vessels operated under quotas of 26 users, the catch was 9,249 tons (in 2023, the catch was 7,966 tons).
