GeneSeas is a Tropical partner and is dedicated to responsible aquaculture practices and the production of high-quality tilapia.
GeneSeas owns four fish farms with floating net-tanks systems, located at the margins of the Paraná River, more specifically at Ilha Solteira dam, state border of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul.
GeneSeas was founded in 2001 on the Paraná River near the western edge of São Paulo, Brazil, and pride themselves in their Brazilian heritage and dedication to sustainable farming.

As majority owners of their Brazilian feed company, GeneSeas is able to ensure sustainable, responsible farming practices throughout every aspect of their operations. Utilizing a low-density suspended cage system in the Paraná River, GeneSeas produce tilapia free of antibiotics, growth promoters, or chemicals.
The addition of this plant in Aparecida do Taboado is nearly a threefold upgrade from their original plant in Promissão; while their plant in Promissão processes eight thousand tons per year, the newly certified Taboado plant produces 20 thousand tons per year.
The storage capacity of the new facility is 130 tons of frozen tilapia and 30 tons of fresh tilapia. The highly efficient facility processes, packs, and ships tilapia all within 60 minutes of harvest.
Through their partnership with Tropical Aquaculture Products, Inc., GeneSeas' new plant allows Tropical to offer high quality frozen tilapia products from Brazil to the North American consumer market.
GeneSeas’ quality is present from the farm all the way to its customers. Using its own logistics infrastructure, GeneSeas offers refrigerated and frozen high quality products to local and international clients.
In addition to leading the tilapia industry in Brazil, GeneSeas employs over 300 local residents; they are a company dedicated to their people and their community. This sentiment is heavily reflected in their community outreach program by supporting local non-profit organizations.
For over a decade, GeneSeas has been fish exporters to the United States and Europe, abiding by the highest quality standards demanded by these markets.
2016 has been a very successful year for GeneSeas. They've received BAP certification for their tilapia farm and inaugurated a brand new processing facility, wasting no time on aggressively pursuing BAP certification for the new facility. GeneSeas is confident the investment in these accomplishments has positioned them for a very successful new year in 2017.
