Seaborn has owners who represent the entire value chain from roe to fully-grown fish

Seaborn Conects Fish-Farmers with Buyers

  (NORWAY, 4/19/2010)
Since its beginning in May 2001, Seaborn AS has become a major distributor of Norwegian Salmon (Salmo Salar), Norwegian Fjord Trout (Oncorhynchus Mykiss) and whitefish. By pooling and integrating resources, the company has established an effective sales organization that focuses on efficiency and economies of scale.

Seaborn’s owners produce salmon, trout and cod. They represent the whole value chain from broodstock and roe via the hatching process, fry and smolt to fully grown fish of the finest quality. The sale of whitefish, both farmed and wild-caught, also forms an important part of the business.

Through Seaborn, these fish-farmers have built a joint platform that gives them better contact with the markets while remaining independent

Clean water, the best feed, plenty of space in the cages and good hygiene throughout , assure good fish health without the use of medication. In addition, stringent regulations have also been adopted that secure consumers’ right to good and healthy food. This is how a good network for quality control is developed.

Seaborn shareholders are small family-owned fish-farming enterprises located in areas where the water is at its purest and best

Seaborn provides quality assurance and traceability throughout the process from roe through the different stages of growth in cold, pure seawater to good harvesting practices, safe packing and good transport routines to bring their products to customers, therefore being capable at all times of supplying fish of the finest quality at competitive prices.

Documentation of food safety all the way from the parent fish throughout the entire value chain is available for each delivery from Seaborn AS. The company also provides a complete quality document with each delivery, which gives full information on producer, biological data, production data and information on fish feed.

Seaborn shareholders' location and sales graph

Seaborn's shareholders represent the typical Norwegian way of life, with a sparse population and small family-owned fish-farming enterprises located in outlying areas where the water is at its purest and best. The individual fish-farmers take a personal interest in the fish they farm. They know that their livelihoods depend on their delivering fish of the highest quality at all times.

Through Seaborn, these fish-farmers have built a joint platform that gives them better contact with the markets while remaining independent. This serves customers' interest in assured quality while also ensuring the individual fish-farmers' stable framework conditions in which to produce.
