Blue Circle is committed to offering superior quality salmon without compromising the environment and welfare of its fish.

Responsibly Farm-Raised Salmon

  (UNITED STATES, 11/26/2018)

Responsibly raised in pure Arctic waters, Blue Circle’s salmon is seasoned and smoked using specially crafted smoking methods to maintain premium quality and taste.

After being salted and seasoned, the salmon is gently cured under carefully controlled humidity and temperature conditions. Then it is slowly cold-smoked (82°F/27°C) over a fire of locally sourced beech wood to create a delicate flavor and texture in keeping with its fine pedigree.

Open net, deep water, low density pens are filled with 98 percent open water, which lowers stress on the fish, allows for better water flow, mimimizes benthic impact and reduces illness.

Blue Circle Foods offers two lines of smoked salmon, Changing Seas Smoked Salmon sold exclusively for Whole Foods Market nationwide and Blue Circle Norwegian Arctic Smoked Salmon.

Changing Seas produces and distributes hot and cold smoked salmon.

Kvarøy is Blue Circle’s farm partner in Norway, a three generation family run business at the forefront of sustainable fish farming.

Kvarøy salmon is the first farmed salmon with a fish-in, fish-out ratio below 1, earning it a “Good Alternative” rating from Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch, a rare mark for farmed salmon. Other salmon farms have ratios as high as 1.6 to1.

This increase in sustainability is due to “In the Blue”, the company’s innovative farmed fish feed that conserves marine resources and reduces environmental contaminants in farmed salmon. Norwegian fish farmer Kvarøy worked in collaboration with Blue Circle Foods and leading feed company BioMar to develop the new feed.

Blue Circle Foods is proud to partner with family farmers and independent fishermen dedicated to meeting the highest standards of aquaculture and fishing practices.
