Viciunai Group are specialists in manufacturing surimi.

World’s Largest Producer of Surimi Products

  (LITHUANIA, 9/3/2013)

Viciunai Group is one of the largest and economically powerful producers of crab taste sticks, surimi products and fish in Europe. Viciunai manufactures chilled and frozen food products.

Viciunai acquired its first surimi products production line in Lithuania in 1997. The group built its business in supplying the Baltic States, Russia and Eastern European countries.

Viciunai is the world's largest buyer of surimi base, using more than 30,000 tonnes a year to produce 70,000 tonnes of surimi products.

In 2000 the first steps into Western Europe market were taken and the trademark Viciunai was replaced by Viči, becoming its leading brand and expanding its private label and branded sales across Continental Europe.

Viciunai has recently won a contract to produce surimi for the British supermarket Sainsbury.

At present, the company exports are organised into five regions: the Baltic States, West and Central Europe, Scandinavia, East Europe and Asia.

Viciunai Group sales are 85 percent export with an annual production of 120.000 metric tons.

Viciunai Group owns one of the world’s largest surimi processing factories. Located in Lithuania, Viciunai Plunge is the main production centre of the company. Its four factories produce surimi products, herring, salmon and salads.

Last year the company started the construction of new biofuel plant in Plungė, which has just opened. This plant produces the steam used in the surimi and seafood processing for the products that require steam cooking or pasteurizing.

It has also opened a new centralized distribution hub, Baltic Food Export in Kaunas Free Economic Zone, with a total storage space of 6,600 square metres, including chilled space of 1,400 square metres. The new facility will allow to have an increase of a day on shelf life for chilled products and a reduction in carbon emissions as they will be using fewer trucks.
