Autumn fishing in Dagestan on the coast of the Caspian Sea and in inland waters, in accordance with fishing rules, began on September 1 and will end on December 31.
Scientists note an increase in catches of sprat, gobies, mullet, and sea herring.
Observers will continue monitoring the sprat trawl fishery off the coast of Dagestan this December.
Let us remind you that ship fishing for sprat was resumed in 2019 after a long break. Until 2001, Caspian sprat was caught on a commercial scale, up to 200-300 thousand tons per year.

But after that, its reserves sharply decreased due to environmental changes, and its fishing practically ceased.
Fish factories were forced to cover the shortage of Caspian sprat at the expense of the Black Sea and Baltic.

Now the production of sprat in the western regions of the Middle Caspian is successful. The total catch of sprat in the Volga-Caspian basin as a whole amounted to 28.5 thousand tons as of December 12 - 1.5% higher than the same date last year. The volume of production of all aquatic biological resources exceeded 80 thousand tons - also 1.5% more.
