Russian Federal Research Institute Of Fishiries and Oceanography (VNIRO) — the head research Institute of the fisheries industry (order of Rosrybolovstvo from 04.03.2015 185). The research organization was established more than 135 years ago for scientific support of the state activity on fishery management, coordination of implementation of plans and programs of fishery research works of all fishery scientific organizations of the Russian Federation.
VNIRO carries out scientific expedition researches and develops biological substantiations of volumes of the General admissible catches (ODE) and the recommended catch of water bioresources of the seas and fresh waters of Russia and the World ocean. Scientific researches of VNIRO cover the issues of creation and development of scientific and technical bases of fishery activity, protection, rational use, study, conservation, reproduction of aquatic biological resources and their habitat, aquaculture, international activities.
