trū Shrimp™ Systems provides patented cutting-edge technology that helps feed a growing world.

The Next Generation of Shrimp Production

  (UNITED STATES, 12/24/2015)

trū Shrimp™ Systems is a group of industry experts that provide the most cutting-edge technology and knowledge to the shrimp industry. Decades of research by trū Shrimp™ Systems have led to the pinnacle of shrimp production methodology that produces safe and healthy shrimp for a growing world.

trū Shrimp™ Systems is changing the rules of the shrimp industry. By implementing advanced technology the company's partners supply the world with a dependable, reliable and safe supply of shrimp. A trū Shrimp™ Harbor is designed to produce millions of pounds of shrimp annually. This large source of locally raised shrimp provides the supply chain and retailers with something they have never had before – a consistent supply of quality shrimp.

trū Shrimp™ Systems produces wholesome shrimp. trū Shrimp™ are cared for in large disease-free facilities that provide them with a consistent and safe climate.

At every level trū Shrimp™ Systems is rethinking shrimp production. Never before have shrimp been cared for in a disease-free environment that provides more than 10,000 pounds of shrimp daily for harvest. The company is also rethinking the way shrimp are processed to manage such large quantities yet adhering to strict food safety standards.

trū Shrimp™ Systems provides patented cutting-edge technology that helps feed a growing world.

Partners that invest in a trū Shrimp™ Systems receive everything they require for success. trū Shrimp™ Systems provides unparalleled technology and technical support for all of its partners. A team of industry experts provides financial planning, process and operational planning, which represents a clear alternative for the shrimp raising investor. The trū Shrimp™ Systems team spends time with its customers and partners to understand their production opportunities and goals. Pond or on-land shrimp producers can turn to trū Shrimp™ Systems for advanced technology that promotes maximum efficiency and food safety.

 Dr. Addison Lawrence.

Chief Technical Officer Dr. Addison Lawrence leads the trū Shrimp™ Systems technical team. Dr. Lawrence has decades of experience conducting research with shrimp worldwide. His vast knowledge led to breakthroughs in shrimp production practices, shrimp health products and nutrition. trū Shrimp™ Systems is the ultimate source of shrimp research, expertise and technology in the industry.

Fully operational since November, The trū Shrimp™ Research Center is a state-of-the-art facility that determines the impact of shrimp health and nutrition products on growth and livability. Staffed with a team of industry-leading experts, the research center is complete with 144 shrimp research tanks, 16 nursery holding tanks, an animal health laboratory and water quality and shrimp feed laboratories. The research centre, which is pushing the boundaries of shrimp production, contains two commercial scale Tidal Basin™ lines.

A fully equipped animal health lab enhances the study of overall shrimp health parameters such as growth rate, feed conversion and survival.

The Tidal Basin™ technology, created by Dr. Addison Lawrence, produces shrimp as naturally and safely as possible. A Tidal Basin™ reproduces a natural current where shrimp thrive. The technology is the heart of a bio-secure shrimp system that can be traced across the entire food supply chain.

The bio-secure facility currently houses 390,000 shrimp and is capable of supporting more than 1,000,000 shrimp at capacity. For Dr. Lawrence, the research centre is a continuation of his personal pursuit to develop better technology to feed the world.

A Tidal Basin™ reproduces a natural current where shrimp thrive. The technology is the heart of a bio-secure shrimp system that can be traced across the entire food supply chain.

“If you want to be a leader, and if you want to do something for mankind and really do it the best you need technology. That has been at the forefront of the United States.” Dr. Lawrence said. “In order for trū Shrimp™ Systems to remain the leader of the shrimp industry, and for us to further optimize the trū Shrimp™ System, we have to further optimize the technology. The technology is completely adequate for commercialization today, but we are far from optimization. We need to create new technology for mankind that will decrease the cost of shrimp production, and increase the quality of shrimp that we are producing at the same time. This research center is critical for us to develop the full potential of shrimp.”

All sizes of Litopenaeus vannamei species of Asian White Shrimp from PL 10-12 can undergo research within the facility. Water Quality and Animal Health labs are on site. Research design services and analysis services are also available.

trū Shrimp™ Systems General Manager Michael Ziebell said the research centre is a reflection of the expert care and consideration the company is taking to successfully scale up Tidal Basin™ technology for commercial production.

“We are going about the commercialization of the Tidal Basin™ technology that Professor Lawrence started at Texas A&M University in a very methodical way. I want to stress that we are doing this right,” Ziebell said. “We so believe in this technology that our first investment is in a research center in Balaton, Minnesota. The center contains the first scaled-up commercial versions of a Tidal Basin™ and we are taking what Professor Lawrence learned at Texas A&M University and we have scaled it up in both size and length to confirm everything that he has learned. We have no reservations that this can be done but we are going to test it and we are going to conduct research so that when we provide this to the world as a trū Shrimp™ System it will be backed up by extensive research.”
