Acme New Smoked Salmon for Whole Foods Market

  (UNITED STATES, 12/18/2013)

Acme Smoked Fish, a fourth-generation family-owned company, dating back to 1906, has recently announced the release of its new smoked salmon pack developed exclusively for Whole Foods Market’s first location in Brooklyn, NY opening December 17th in Gowanus.  Both companies share in their strict commitment to quality standards and environmental stewardship.

The new three-ounce smoked salmon pack is made with Whole Foods Market’s approved farm-raised salmon, farmed responsibly without the use of added hormones or antibiotics.

The all-natural product is smoked to perfection using Acme’s traditional natural hardwood methods that have made the company a household name for more than four generations.

The two companies, each loyal to the communities in which they serve, have collaborated to create an exclusive Brooklyn-style smoked salmon delicacy to celebrate the grand opening of the new Whole Foods Market store in Brooklyn, New York.

The joint creation further aims to support local businesses, increase awareness around the area’s rich heritage, and expand the popularity of this New York/Brooklyn food staple.

“Our collaborative creation with Whole Foods Market pays tribute to smoked salmon’s wholesome and flavorsome appeal along with Brooklyn’s long-standing heritage as the smoked fish capital of the nation,” explained Gabriel Viteri, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Acme Smoked Fish Corporation.

The distinct flavor of Acme's salmon results from the natural smoke process that is controlled by the smoking artisans.

“We’ve proudly carried Acme’s high-quality and delicious smoked fish products in our New York stores for years,” said James Slobozian, Seafood Coordinator for Whole Foods Market’s Northeast region. “It’s incredibly special for us to have our Third & 3rd seafood department offer this special product for the first time as we join the Brooklyn community.”

Acme is one of the few smoked fish companies to remain in Brooklyn today and the largest smoked seafood producer in the United States. The company retails a complete range of premium smoked salmon, specialty smoked fish, salads, herring, and other culinary favorites.

Acme Salmon are hand-cut and cured using a blend of ingredients that have been in the company's family recipe for generations.
