BioMar Unveils New Feed for Submerged Feeding Technology

The new POWER H2O formulation is specifically designed to maintain pellet integrity and nutrient quality for waterborne delivery systems.

OSLO — BioMar has launched POWER H2O, a new feed solution tailored for waterborne feeding systems. This innovative formulation addresses the unique challenges of delivering feed pellets to salmon at depth, where they face increased water pressure, longer transit times in water, and different environmental conditions.

Building on the company’s existing POWER range, POWER H2O features enhanced physical qualities and a specific formulation designed for submerged feeding. According to Ewan Cameron, BioMar’s Product Manager for Salmon Grower Feeds, this new feed is a crucial development for an industry increasingly adopting waterborne feeding systems, which reduce noise, microplastic pollution, and energy use.

"The use of waterborne feeding systems introduces a new set of challenges, and it requires a feed built for this farming reality," Cameron said. "POWER H2O combines robust pellet durability with excellent digestibility and minimal nutrient loss, making it the ideal feed for salmon farmers adopting these systems."

One of the key benefits of POWER H2O is its ability to protect the feed investment. Paddy Campbell, VP Salmon at BioMar Group, noted that initial tests showed conventional feeds can quickly lose essential nutrients when delivered through waterborne systems. By focusing on safeguarding pellet quality, POWER H2O helps ensure consistent growth and health for the salmon.
