In 2001 several family-owned and operated fish farmers decided to band together, combining their vast experience in fish farming based on generations of living off of the sea. Although separated by hundreds of kilometers of Norwegian coastline, they all had in common a deep appreciation and respect for the sea and its harvest, sharing the same values regarding sustainable fish farming and local commitment.

Seaborn was established by a number of small and medium-sized family-owned companies with a long experience and tradition of fish farming through generations.

Local identity was, and continues to be, of paramount importance to Seaborn. The company contributes to some of Norway's numerous coastal districts, creating value and jobs for local communities through its 54 fish farms.

Proving that it is possible to grow and attain market share without compromising on the values and ideals that made Seaborn possible at the turn of the millennium.

From the cold , pure waters of the fjords in both Eastern and Western Iceland comes natural Icelandic salmon.

Seaborn's main products are norwegian & icelandic salmon (Salmo Salar) and norwegian fjord trout (Orconhynchus Mykiss). These products are available all year round.

In fish farming, the well-being of the fish is of paramount importance to ensure a high-quality product. Furthermore, the health of the fish is directly linked to sustainable and environmentally friendly operations, which means that what's good for the environment is good for the fish which again leads to a better end product.

Seaborn's fish is GMO free, and free from antibiotics and hormones.

This holistic approach to fish farming which not only considers the fish cage and its immediate surroundings, but the whole ecosystem in which it is located, is core to Seaborn's philosophy. From roe to dinner plate, the company's processes ensure the best possible conditions for producing high-quality salmon and trout. Clean water, the best feed, spacious cages and consistently good hygiene leads to healthy and happy fish without the need for medication.

To further ensure the quality of Seaborn's fish products, the company has developed the following quality control processes:

• The authorities check that the regulations are complied with and that fish health is good. The fish farmers' own control systems also ensure that quality is optimized.
• Harvesting and packing stations and carriers are responsible for maintaining top quality all the way to market.
• Seaborn monitors all stages of the process. It is its responsibility to ensure that customers are satisfied. Finally, the customer decides whether the fish meets their expectations, which is the crucial test.
• A traceability system and a certificate of quality enable everyone to check each stage of the value chain.
• Food safety can be documented all the way from the parent fish throughout the entire value chain for every one of Seaborn's deliveries.
