" Consumers have turned away from whelk a little,"says Arnauld Manner, director of NFM. The drop in catches has led to a sharp increase in auction prices (+51% between 2010 and 2020, +90% between 2020 and 2023), even if the phenomenon has reversed this year (-45% between 2023 and 2024).
The Marine Stewardship Council certification was obtained in 2017 and renewed in 2023, rewarding the “ considerable ” management efforts of fishermen since 1983.
Tokyo — Japanese seafood group Nissui announced that its subsidiary, Nissui Logistics, has fully restored cargo receiving and shipping operations at all 17 facilities following an IT disruption caused by unauthorized access to systems operated by its technology provider, IDC Frontier.
The incident initially disrupted the company's logistics activities. Operations began to resume partially on October 9, with full restoration confirmed on October 20.
Nissui stated that it will strengthen its cybersecurity measures, third-party risk management, and business continuity and recovery procedures.

Authorities and salmon producers in Chile’s Aysén region are reviewing preparations for potential mass fish mortality as the critical period for El Niño is expected to begin in December.
The work covers early-warning systems, company contingency plans and the capacity to respond to harmful algal blooms, according to a statement issued by fisheries and aquaculture regulator Sernapesca on 19 October.
Regional director Daniela Leiva said advance coordination was necessary ahead of the expected December risk period.

The company has a land-based farm at Lille Indre Rosøy in Rødøy municipality, Nordland, northern Norway. It uses a hybrid flow-through system supplied with natural seawater.
Gigante reports today that it is continuing to scale up production throughout the third quarter through further biomass growth, the stocking of the majority of the H2026 generation, and continued efforts to optimise production, fish welfare and biological performance.
