Kılıç starts bream and bass production in Dominican Republic farm
(TURKEY, 8/24/2017)
Kılıç Deniz has started their first bream and bass production in the aquafarm the firm has in Dominican Republic.
The firm transferred juveniles from Turkey and in July started to breed them in facilities in the Central American country for them to be sold in North and South American in 2018.
“We share our aquaculture experience with the world,” pointed out Kılıç Deniz Products Deputy President of Board İhsan Bozan.
The executive stated that they made investments in Dominican Republic after their trout facilities in Albania and fish-feed raw material production in Mauritania.
In addition, he underlined that they are carrying out research on some African countries such as Somali.
“We and some other Turkish companies already export Mediterranean fish to US market. In order to sell more to American market, we chose Dominican Republic that provides transportation advantages and is suitable for growing Mediterranean fish. We would like to carry our knowledge and experience in aquaculture there and reproduce local species as well,” Bozan said.
Besides, he stressed that they performed their first fish export to Italy and underlined that they exported to 37 countries by July.
Bozan resumed as follows: “We export Turkish fish all around the world, notably to Europe and Russia. Currently we grow a total amount of 60 thousand tons of bream, bass, drum and trout and export 70 per cent of our production.”
