Austral Group incorporates modern multipurpose vessel
(PERU, 1/19/2016)
Austral Group has just added a new multipurpose vessel to its fleet, in which it has invested around USD 30 million.
After its recent christening, in the facilities of Astilleros de los Servicios Industriales – SIMA Peru, Don Ole, featuring 61 meters in length and cargo capacity of 800 cubic meters, will begin operations in the coming days. It will catch jack mackerel and mackerel for direct human consumption and will also participate in the first Pacific anchovy fishing season this year.
The incorporation of this new boat is part of the business plan to modernize its fleet.
According to Austral, this boat is one of the safest, most modern and eco-efficient in the country, and has similar technology to that in Europe.
The general manager of the company, Adriana Giudice, stressed that this ship will consume 20 per cent less fuel than other ships of the Peruvian fleet.
In addition, the Don Ole is equipped with modern RSW refrigeration systems that guarantee the preservation of the catch until landing.
Austral Group has six fishmeal and fish oil plants, two canneries and a frozen food plant, which are distributed along the Peruvian coast.
