High-Quality Farmed Sea Bream and Sea Bass

  (GREECE, 12/8/2010)

For 30 years Selonda (Public, ATH:SELO) has been cultivating and distributing Sea Bream and Sea Bass, Europe and North America’s most popular Mediterranean fish.

In order to assure the quality, safety and freshness of its fish, Selonda maintains clean and healthy sea conditions, uses natural ingredients in the fish feed and carries out daily surveillance, strictly following all of the procedures foreseen by the ISO 22000 and HACCP certifications.

Selonda, founded in 1981, is a leading global producer and supplier of high-quality farmed Sea Bream and Sea Bass

In addition, Selonda has developed an integrated traceability system, which can track the history of every fish “from the sea to the fork” and provide all of the information required by customers and consumers (fish farm location, feed used, harvest and packaging date).

Selonda’s Sea Bream and Sea Bass grow for approximately two years in open sea cages prior to harvesting. Selonda’s Sea Bream and Sea Bass have an average omega-3 content of 28 percent of the total fatty acids.

Selonda's packaging and processing plant is located in close proximity to a majority of its own fish farms

Selonda’s processed Sea Bream and Sea Bass is produced and packaged at a 2000 square meter, state-of-the-art plant named “Fish Fillet”, which is located at a small distance from a large number of the company’s farms accounting for more than 50 percent of the total annual production volume. Selonda is the only Sea Bream and Sea Bass producer in Greece with a packaging and processing plant located in close proximity to a majority of its fish farms. As a result of the processing plant’s location, Sea Bream and Sea Bass can be transferred directly from harvesting to processing without long transport and waiting periods.

Selonda operates a global distribution network, which delivers 500 tons of fresh Sea Bream and Sea Bass to more than 20 countries worldwide every week. In order to introduce the company’s fresh Sea Bream and Sea Bass to a region where it is currently not available, Selonda carries out deliveries to any airport in the world within two days from harvesting.

Selonda Group has always been the leader in Greece, as well as the Mediterranean, in fry production and sales. The company started at the end of the last decade with the construction of the small hatchery in Selonda bay for the coverage of its own needs for the most part. The Group essentially started its leadership in the production of fry from 1994 by acquiring and adding to its capacity the large hatchery in Managouli and mostly after 1998, when the third and most modern hatchery of the Group (Triton SA) started production. Today, the Group owns 7 modern hatcheries with a total capacity over 110 million fry.

The greatest Selonda accomplishment in all these years is its consolidation of the fry market and its reputation to customers as one of the most reliable company in the sector.
