Astilleros Zamakona delivers the Danish fishing vessel 'HG333 Isafold'

Astilleros Zamakona, located in Santurzi, has delivered the fishing vessel "HG333 Isafold" (IMO 9900239) to the Danish company Rederiet Isafold A/S, owned by shipowners Lise Bjorn Jorgensen, Karsten Molgaard and Kristian Larsen, based in Hirstals. It will be used for pelagic fishing and it is a Norwegian project designed following the most advanced criteria in its specialty.
Of 5,667 gross tons, she measures 87 m in length and 20 m in beam. She has a capacity for 3,700 cubic meters of pelagic fish (herring, mackerel, blue whiting and sandeel) and diesel-electric propulsion and has transverse propellers to improve maneuverability during catches and port operations.
The new ship incorporates a wide range of modern technologies to increase safety on board and improve energy efficiency. The total environmental footprint per catch is therefore significantly lower. At the same time, selective fishing gear and storage of the catch in frozen seawater on board ensure that the quality of the landed fish is even higher than it is today.
The circumstance occurs that the fishing of pelagic species such as herring and mackerel is carried out far from the Danish coasts, hence the vessels dedicated to these tasks have to be able to operate over long distances, for which it is very important that can withstand much harsher types of weather than in nearby waters.
The vessel has the particularity of fishing both with a trawl net and a purse seine, and its size allows it to catch in the most remote areas of the North Sea and the North Atlantic, in extremely harsh weather.
The aforementioned shipowner has acquired, together with other shipowners, additional quotas on a series of pelagic fish species to compensate for the quotas they have lost as a result of Brexit
