Cermaq achieved greater survival in all its operations
(NORWAY, 2/16/2018)
Cermaq reports they managed to increase fish survival rate from 94 percent to 96 percent in their operating regions during 2017. Besides, there were no salmon escapes in the last quarter of 2017, neither so far in 2018.
According to the company, Atlantic salmon survival is still at high levels. Likewise, coho and rainbow trout raised in Chile also show the same high survival rates.
The Group manages fish health mainly through the application of preventive measures. Thus, In Norway, for example, none of the fish harvested in the last quarter of 2017 had received antibiotic treatment. In Chile and in Canada, the need for antibiotic treatment for the fish harvested in the quarter was reduced from same quarter last year.
The company also highlights that the OHS performance remains strong, with a global absence rate of 2.2 percent, spanning from 1.8 percent in Chile to 4.9 percent in Norway. For Norway, this is lower than the general level of absentees of 6.5 percent in the last quarter.
Cermaq has been publishing its quarterly results on key indicators related to fish health, environmental and social issues in its operations since the beginning of 2016.
