Gorton's Seafood has reinvented the fish stick with the launch of all new Smart & Crunchy Fish Sticks.

Gorton's Seafood Reinvents the Iconic Fish Stick

  (UNITED STATES, 10/22/2014)

Gorton's Seafood, the inventor of one of America's most classic mealtime options, the fish stick, has reinvented its iconic product. Gorton's all new Smart & Crunchy Fish Sticks are hitting shelves across the country and are expected to be available nationally by early 2015.

New Smart & Crunchy Fish Sticks, also available as Fish Fillets, are made with 100% wild-caught Alaska Pollock and breaded in a panko coating that gives them a great crunch. Always crispy, never fried, they have 50% less fat than Gorton's regular Fish Sticks and are 180 calories per serving.

Made with 100% wild-caught Alaska Pollock and breaded in a panko coating that gives them a great crunch, Smart & Crunchy fish sticks are always crispy, never fried. Plus, they have 50% less fat than Gorton's regular Fish Sticks and are 180 calories per serving.

Gorton's first introduced the now-iconic fish stick to American dinner plates in 1953.

Since then, fish sticks have become a mealtime staple and a building block (sometimes literally), that many parents have used to introduce their young children to seafood, a critical component of a healthy, nutrient-rich diet.

New Smart & Crunchy have 50% less fat than Gorton's regular Fish Fillets.

Many parents know that eating seafood twice a week is a healthy choice for their families, and now Gorton's has created an option for those consumers seeking an even more wholesome option at mealtime, while maintaining the great taste and crunch families have come to expect from Gorton's.

"We are so excited to be able to share these new products," says Gavin Kennedy, Director of Consumer Marketing at Gorton's. "We've been working hard at this concept for quite some time, trying to find a way to improve our iconic fish sticks nutritionally and maintain that same great taste and crunch that Americans have come to love over the past 60 years. I really think we've done it! We can't wait to hear what people think about Smart & Crunchy."
