GLOBALG.A.P ‘s expert trainers provide participants with many examples and the training includes practical case studies

New GLOBALG.A.P Training Concept

  (GERMANY, 1/18/2011)

Capacity building is one of the key elements of GLOBALG.A.P. Providing training to experts working in the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices worldwide is a very important means for GLOBALG.A.P to reach out.

Hung Ca, a Vietnamese producer specializing in tra and basa, follows GLOBALG.A.P standards

The content of the training courses focus mainly on the rules of the GLOBALG.A.P system (General Regulations) and the requirements to be implemented on the farms (Control Points & Compliance Criteria). GLOBALG.A.P ‘s expert trainers provide participants with many examples and the training includes practical case studies, such as:

• What is behind GLOBALG.A.P?
• How does the certification system work?
• How can the standard requirements be implemented in various countries by all
• What is new? - How can challenging cases be solved?

GLOBALG.A.P aquaculture set of standards also covers reliable seeding and feed sourcing into fish farming activities

GLOBALG.A.P has developed a new training concept due to start in 2011. It mainly affects GLOBALG.A.P approved Certification Bodies (CBs), as it is obligatory for them to fulfil several seminar participation and online training requirements. The new training program is obligatory for Certification Bodies and consists of four different types of training sessions.

In addition, GLOBALG.A.P is expanding its existing online training and online exam. During 2011, a wider range of courses and contents will become available via the new eLearning platform.

Other face-to-face training that GLOBALG.A.P offers is GRASP Training for Assessors, ìPublic Workshops (former TTS) and customized ìPrivate Workshops based on individual requests. Participants who pass a voluntary exam at the end of a private or public workshop will be listed on the GLOBALG.A.P website if their company is a GLOBALG.A.P member.

About GLOBALG.A.P

The challenge of globalising markets is nowhere greater than in the primary food sector. GLOBALG.A.P has established itself as a key reference for Good Agricultural Practices (G.A.P.) in the global market place, by translating consumer requirements into agricultural production in a rapidly growing list of countries – currently more than 100 on every continent.

GLOBALG.A.P is a private sector body that sets voluntary standards for the certification of agricultural products around the globe. The aim is to establish ONE standard for Good Agricultural Practice (G.A.P.) with different product applications capable of fitting to the whole of global agriculture.

As many other on-farm assurance systems have been in place for some time prior to the existence of GLOBALG.A.P, a way had to be found to encourage the development of regionally adjusted management systems and so to prevent farmers from having to undergo multiple audits. Existing national or regional farm assurance schemes that have successfully completed their benchmarking process are recognised as an equivalent to GLOBALG.A.P.
