'Make the Check' for the Oceans: MSC Launches Marine Sustainability Week
(SPAIN, 4/1/2025)
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), the leading non-profit organization for sustainable fishing, has launched the fifth edition of its "Oceans Forever" campaign, from March 31st to April 6th, 2025, under the slogan "Make the Check."
This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of choosing sustainable seafood to protect the oceans and ensure their long-term health.
With the support of over 100 collaborators from various sectors, including scientists, businesses, educators, and communicators, the campaign focuses on a simple yet powerful gesture: "Make the Check." This act symbolizes the conscious review of consumer choices and support for products certified with the MSC Blue Label, an indicator of responsible fishing practices.
"Make the Check" represents a consumer commitment to sustainable fishing, which ensures healthy fish populations, minimizes environmental impact, and promotes responsible fisheries management.
Key Campaign Initiatives:
Influencer Collaborations: Renowned nutritionists and chefs, such as Marta Verona and Alberto Ugarte, will promote sustainable seafood consumption through engaging and educational content.
Webinar on the MSC Improvement Program: This program, which supports fisheries on their path to certification, will be presented.
The Blue Night: An exclusive event for collaborators in the sustainable seafood value chain.
Sustainable Recipe Workshop: Influencer Marta Verona will demonstrate how to cook with MSC-certified seafood, highlighting its nutritional and environmental benefits.
"Stall 92" Pop-Up at Mercado de la Paz (Madrid): From March 31st to April 6th, consumers can interact with the Blue Label and taste sustainable products.
A Collaborative Movement:
The "Oceans Forever" campaign is supported by numerous companies, academic and scientific institutions, and 27 MSC Blue Ambassadors, including personalities like Aritz Aranburu, David de Jorge, and Eneko Atxa.
MSC invites all consumers to join the #OceansForever movement, visiting the Pop-Up at Mercado de la Paz and choosing products with the Blue Label.
