Product imports from Argentina decreased by 8% at the end of October

Until last October, seafood imported from Argentina had decreased.
According to statistics, 8,252 tons of seafood were imported from January to October 2023, an 8% decrease compared to 8,958 tons in the same period in 2022.
The main imported seafood from Argentina is frozen squid, and 3,717 tons, or 45% of the total import volume, were imported, a 17% decrease compared to 4,482 tons in the same period of 2022.
The average import price increased to USD 3.11/kg compared to USD 2.96/kg in 2022.
Frozen skate/ray is the second most imported, with 1,659 tons coming in, accounting for 20.1% of the total import volume, which is an 11% increase compared to 1,489 tons in the same period last year. The average import price was USD 5.24/kg, with 2022, it shows an increase of 17.2% compared to USD 4.47/kg.
The third is frozen stingray, accounting for 13.4% of the total, at 1,104 tons.
Import volume increased by 0.5% compared to 1,098 tons in 2022, and the average import unit price was USD 4.52/kg, up from 2022.
Other imported species include frozen Argentine red shrimp and frozen giant squid tentacles.
817 tons of frozen Argentine red shrimp were imported, a 13% increase from 722 tons in 2022, and the average import price was calculated to be USD 8.44/kg.
In the case of frozen squid tentacles, 291 tons were imported, a 36% decrease compared to 456 tons in the same period last year, and the average import price was USD 2.76/kg, a slight decrease compared to 2022.
The imported amount for Argentine seafood from January to October 2023 was USD 38.54 million, an increase of 3% compared to USD 37.49 million in the same period of 2022.
In addition, the average import price was USD 4.67/kg, an increase of 11.6% compared to USD 4.19/kg in 2022, and the total country's import volume by October 2023 was 785,410 tons, of which Argentine products accounted for 1%.
