The three-day expo hosted in Singapore gathered total attendance of more than 4,370 seafood professionals.

The 11th Seafood Expo Asia Becomes the Largest Edition in the Event’s History

  (SINGAPORE, 10/16/2023)

The 11th edition of Seafood Expo Asia, produced by Diversified Communications, organizer of the world’s leading seafood trade events, concluded its largest and most impactful edition in the event’s history with an expanded exhibit hall featuring 362 exhibiting companies from 41 countries around the world, and representing an 86 percent increase in exhibit space over the event’s previous edition.

The event demonstrated the growing demand from seafood companies across the world to showcase their latest products and innovations and to meet with top-level buyers from retailers and food service companies across Asia. Attendees forged new partnerships, nurtured existing relationships and deepened their understanding of the global seafood industry.

The event is designed for seafood professionals, including buyers and chefs, looking for new suppliers, products, or trends.

“Our experience at Seafood Expo Asia in Singapore has been amazing. We met with a lot of clients, which has been very helpful for us because it has introduced us to a new market,” said Melissa Osorio, Sales Representative, Grupo Aquamar (Nicaragua). “We did an educational presentation on Vannamei shrimp, which is the species that we sell. This gave us the opportunity to educate Asian seafood professionals about the origins of Vannamei shrimp and our shrimp farming process in the Central American region.”

The engaging conference program delved into key subjects such as consumer trends in Asia, artificial intelligence (AI), technology, aquaculture, finance and funding, sustainability and traceability. Throughout the day, attendees were engaged with a series of culinary and product demonstrations, where they could learn about specific species and how to prepare them. Renowned chefs made special appearances and demonstrations, including Chef Karlie Verkerk, who hosted a master class on Australian Coral Trout and Chef Flavio Morganti, who demonstrated the richness of seafood from the Spanish region of Galicia. An exciting Oyster Challenge took place where skilled chefs went head-to-head in three thrilling rounds of competition: Shuck & Arrange, House Dressing and a Mystery Box Challenge.

Distinguished chefs demonstrates how to sophisticatedly cook premium seafood.

The Expo launched its inaugural Seafood Excellence Asia Awards competition, where Tassal Operations emerged as the recipient of the Best New Product award for its Tassal Tassie Smoked Salmon Twin Pack (2 x 50g). The awards highlight product innovators in the Asian seafood market, assessing new products based on criteria such as eating experience, innovation, packaging, nutritional attributes, market potential, originality and convenience to promote quality consistency and set the benchmark for quality seafood.

“This year’s event proved to be highly successful in facilitating strategic conversations and building key relationships between a diverse community of top-level buyers and suppliers from around the world,” said Mrs. Wynter Courmont, Vice President, Seafood at Diversified Communications. “The growth is a testament to Singapore’s strategic geographical location in Asia, rendering it a key hub for international business, and perfectly aligning with our overarching mission of fostering international collaboration and trade within the seafood industry.”

At the conference programs visitors are able to identify new opportunities from industry experts in sessions covering the latest technology updates, industry trends, value added seafood developments, sustainability and more.

In 2022, Seafood Expo Asia hosted its 10th edition of the event in Singapore for the first time, following a successful tenure in Hong Kong from 2010 to 2018. Last year’s edition saw over 200 exhibiting companies and close to 4,000 seafood professionals in attendance, underscoring the Expo’s growing significance.

The decision to move to Singapore was informed by valuable input from previous exhibitors and seafood buyers, as well as insights from a comprehensive third-party research study assessing the Asian seafood marketplace’s business size and potential.

Seafood Expo Asia is a great platform for starting and growing your business in the lucrative Asian market.

Looking ahead, the 12th edition of Seafood Expo Asia is slated to take place in Singapore at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre from 4 September to 6 September 2024.
