Krill Arctic Foods Introduces Krill Meat in the US

  (UNITED STATES, 4/14/2023)

Krill Arctic Foods is introducing to the American consumer Antarctic krill meat, what the company calls "the world's newest superfood".

Being involved in the seafood industry for the past 40 years, the company owners first came across krill on their travels to Eastern Europe. During this trip they learned that krill is an incredible protein source for human consumption. Piquing their interest, they dove deeper into the countless health benefits krill has to offer.

Too impressive to overlook, they knew they had to find a way to bring Krill meat to the US. Partnering with Interrybflot Ukraine, that owns and operates the only commercial vessel capable of processing krill on board, Krill Arctic Foods was born as the exclusive seller of krill meat in the US.

Krill Arctic Foods' krill meat is produced from krill caught within strict guidelines established by the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) to ensure and promote the health and sustainability of the krill population in the Antarctic Ocean.

The CCAMLR is an international organization made up of 25 member countries that get together once a year every October to make important decisions on how to protect and conserve the Southern marine ecosystem. One of the main decisions constructed is around managing fisheries including krill fisheries, to ensure that they allow for the needs of all marine life that feed off krill.

Krill are an important part of the marine ecosystem due to their role in recycling nutrients back into the waters, which is important for the phytoplankton that they eat. Krill are also the prime food source for countless marine life such as penguins, whales, and seals. The krill population is the essential component in maintaining a healthy and sustainable marine ecosystem.

Antarctic Krill Meat is an amazing addition to creating or maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The CCAMLR have established an annual harvesting quota of less than 1% of the total krill biomass, which is estimated to be up to 500 million metric tons. This is a precautionary approach that mitigates concerns consumers have regarding the sustainability of krill.

Krill Arctic Foods only utilizes raw materials caught on the company's own factory vessel and harvested within the CCAMLR guidelines. Krill Arctic Foods understands the importance of sustainability for krill, as well as the protection of other marine species living in the Antarctic. Therefore, they choose sustainability first, to ensure the protection of all marine life.

Krill meat has 67 calories and 15g of protein per 105g serving. Packed with Astaxanthin and Omega 3s bound to phospholipids, the amazing combination of vitamins, minerals and nutrients found inside krill meat make for a powerhouse combination of health benefits for our body.

Krill meat is a source of highly digestible protein. This means that our bodies can digest and absorb the protein within krill meat easily. Protein sources such as poultry, meats and other seafoods have lower digestibility rates, making the proteins in these sources harder to digest. Lower digestibility rates lead to overall lower protein absorption.

The omega 3s found in Krill meat are bound to phospholipids which are a unique form of lipids that are critical components to the function of cell membranes. The human body naturally utilizes phospholipids to promote cell, tissue, and organ function. This means the omega 3s in Krill meat is easier for us to absorb and utilize in comparison to other fish sources where Omegas are bound to triglycerides.

Euphausia Superba are a species of Krill that live in large schools called swarms. The term Krill comes from the Norwegian language. Krill has been a source of food for many centuries. Krill meat for human consumption is growing increasingly popular around the U.S. The meat suffices for most of the nutritional needs of the human body.

Astaxanthin is an organic antioxidant that belongs to a large group of substances called carotenoids. In nature, astaxanthin can only be synthesized by micro algae. Krill eat these algae and in turn can provide us with the amazing healing properties that come from this astounding antioxidant. Astaxanthin plays a huge role in all the healing benefits that come from krill and is truly the most effective antioxidant of our time.
