Escal selects the best prawns from oceans and organic farming worldwide.

Sustainable Seafood of Exceptional Quality

  (FRANCE, 9/9/2021)

Escal is  dedicated to the highest quality in all the work they do, from the sourcing of the best raw materials across the world, to the quality controls.  First of all, it starts with the research of the best raw materials across the world until the controls carried out by the company's quality department.

Thanks to Escal's trusting relationships with its long-term suppliers, to the experience of the company's commercial units, and the regular controls, Escal can furnish products of an exceptional quality.

Escal’s prawns originates from organic certified aquaculture.

From the fishing to the packaging in the processing plant in Strasbourg, the raw materials are controlled several times, both in the internal quality department and in independant laboratories. Escal performs every year 4100 microbiological tests and 950 specific analysis. To this, can be added 2300 internal testings in order to ensure you an oustanding culinary pleasure.

This notion of quality  is reinforced by the IFS certification, obtained in 2003. The International Food Standard (IFS) is an international standard which has a purpose of quality and food security. It allows to verify that their suppliers have all the required competences. It includes 278 control points in all sphere of competence.

The Escal brand is for you a guarantee of taste and quality of the company's seafood products.

The sustainable development and the traceability of Escal's products are in the heart of the company’s concerns. In front of limited resources of the planet and to satisfy customers concerned by their daily diet, Escal is committed for the preservation of marine species and natural areas. By trusting Escal, you have the guarantee to consume quality seafood products and respectful of the environment. Escal offers certified MSC, ASC and organic references. The logo on the packaging will allow you to recognize them in store.

Escal carries the MSC certification since 2009 with an independent audit every year. The brand is currently offering in its range 8 products MSC certified: the peeled and cooked mussels, the cooked whole lobster, the scallops, the whole raw pilchards, the cod backs, the saithe, the haddock, and the Albacore tuna.

Escal offers a diverse species of whole fishes, all MSC certified.

Escal is engaged in favor of the responsible aquaculture by supporting the ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council). The ASC’s mission is to push forward aquaculture to practices more respectful of the environment and socially more responsible.

Escal, precursor on the ASC certified prawns’ segment, is carrier of ASC certification since 2013. The brand is currently offering in its range 8 products ASC certified: the raw and peeled peeled shrimps Ecuador, the cooked and peeled White Tiger prawns Ecuador, the shrimps cocktail, the King Size prawns Ecuador, the King Prawns provencales, the raw prawn tails easy-peel Ecuador, the Black Tiger prawns, and the salmon fillet.

Escal and all its stakeholders are making the choice to avoid fishing in critical capture areas in order to refrain from contributing to some species extinction.

Applied to products which originate from organic method of production, this organic logo certifies an agricultural and aquacole production respectful of specific norms. Granted to producers following their certification by an independent organism, itself accredited, the European organic logo becomes mandatory in complement of potential national or private logos. Escal is today certified European organic and AB for its unit in Strasbourg.

Escal offers several BIO(organic) certified produits such as the raw prawns tails, the cooked gourmet prawns, the garlic and parsley shrimps, the mussels  and the salmon fillets.

Already mixed as seafood cocktail or individually served as the mussels, Escal offers a wide choice of molluscs, shells and shellfish to enable you to cook delicious dishes very quickly.

To minimize the environmental impact of the transportation, Escal controls the transport as a whole in the manufacturing process. In manufacture, the company ensures a precise water management by minimizing the useless water consumption and by watching sewage.

Escal is also very careful on the reduction and sorting of waste. In this way, its carrying a particular importance to the green point and replacing the non-recycling packaging, such as foil, in recycling material. 100% of Escal's packaging is therefore recyclable. Throughout their choice of suppliers, Escal is privileging suppliers which are acting in favor of a sustainable development and which are localized near the manufacture process.
