Rosrybolovstvo announced 2021 as the year of salmon, as a feature of the 2020 salmon fishing line in the North Pacific was the weak justification for predictive approaches and the capture of Pacific salmon in certain fishing areas. The simultaneous decline in production volumes in the Far East of Russia, Japan and the coast of North America requires a discussion of the reasons for the significant fluctuations in the abundance of Pacific salmon at a high level of experts.
The conference will be organized by the director of the Federal Agency for Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo), Ilya Shestakov, and the director of the All-Russian Fisheries and Oceanography Research Institute (VNIRO), Kirill Kolonchin.
Some 40 industry specialists are expected to participate in the conference directly on Sakhalin. Experts from other regions and countries will participate online: up to 70 connection points are expected, including around 100 fishing companies and industrial associations from Primorsky, Kamchatka, Khabarovsk territories, Sakhalin and Magadan regions.
As a result of the conference, it is planned to publish a collection of articles in Russian and English.
