This event is jointly organized between the National Parks Administration (APN) and the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation (MAyDS), within the framework of Project GCP/ARG/025/GFF "Strengthening of the Management and Protection of Coastal Marine Biodiversity in Key Ecological Areas and the Application of the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EEP)”, in execution by the MAyDS with the FAO as the agency for the implementation of the GEF funds. As a parallel activity, in the Ecocentro space, environmental education activities will be developed with local schools.
Consensus building
The National Director of Environmental Management of Water and Aquatic Ecosystems of the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development of the Nation, Gabriela González Trilla, told REVISTA PUERTO that this bill has already been presented in the National Chamber of Deputies and "is the result of many years of work carried out by the Ministry of the Environment and we hope that Congress will treat and approve it. We have worked hard to seek agreements and build consensus,” she highlighted.
"The protection of the marine environment is for the good of all, both from the productive sector and from the point of view of conservation," stressed the graduate in Biological Sciences, who is also a CONICET scholar and researcher.
Delimitation
González Trilla maintained that "this is an unprecedented project because an environmental baseline was generated, with a lot of information regarding the area, and based on that information, the sector to be protected was chosen."

The official of the Ministry of Environment of the Nation and representative of that ministry in the Federal Fisheries Council pointed out that it is a sector "that we identify as an area of opportunity in terms of conservation, since it belongs to the great ban on hake and also By Resolution 7/18- CFP (management measures for the fishery of the species Pleoticus muelleri) it was also closed for this resource. This allows us to minimize interference with the economic activities of the area”, clarified Gabriela González Trilla.
“It is a project that tries to reconcile the interests of all sectors. In this space of the dissemination day that we will carry out in Puerto Madryn, all sectors are invited, from the academic who are the ones who worked hard in the generation of the baseline, that is why the place was also chosen, the Ecocentro Pampa Azul ; All the fishing chambers have also been invited to listen to their concerns, and in addition to representatives of the Ministry of the Environment, there will be National Parks because if the law is sanctioned, it will be the enforcement authority,” she added.
