Friosur considers sale of its salmon division

Absolute reserve is kept as regards the sale of the salmon division of Friosur, an emblematic company of the XI Region that has more than 30 years of experience in the sector, and maintains a production of more than 20,000 tonnes per year is maintained.
According to industry sources, the Friosur mandate controller would be in the hands of LarrainVial Chile, and one of the relevant aspects would be the realization of a road show at a national and international level, La Tercera reported.
It is estimated that the valuation of the aquaculture division of the company's aquaculture company is around USD 200 million, due to its growth potential.
The salmon division of Friosur has more than 40 concessions and it is estimated that it could produce some 80,000 tonnes in the near future.
According to information provided by La Tercera, sources close to the Del Rio family explained that Friosur wants to get rid of the aquaculture division to concentrate on the fishing business, and that "the operation would go through focusing the business in the austral zone".
This is the first time that the Del Río brothers formalize the salmon division sale, although on several occasions other companies showed interest in keeping their assets. One of the interested parties was Empresas AquaChile, which, in 2007, started conversations that later did not prosper.
Therefore, sources in the sector point to AquaChile as this new process "natural candidate". The company maintains links with Friosur through a marketing agreement signed in 2013 for the sale of its products in the United States and Canada.
The same sources do not discard that an international investment fund can compete in the company´s sale process.
