Marine Harvest and Friosur agree to keep workers of destroyed plant
(CHILE, 11/25/2016)
The Sub-Secretariat for Fisheries and Aquaculture (SUBPESCA) considers that the efforts of the private sector to maintain the employment of the workers affected by the fire at a plant in Aysen are a sign of their commitment to progress in reconstruction.
This was stated by Undersecretary Raul Sunico, after knowing the willingness of the companies Marine Harvest and Friosur to reach an agreement of operations to maintain the 100 jobs of the workers of the processing plant of Puerto Chacabuco in the Region of Aysen. This, after the fire that completely destroyed the facilities last November 7.
The authority valued the announcement, given the importance of the plant for the inhabitants of the region, as it is the livelihood of hundreds of families.
In this sense, Sunico stressed that this good news "offers greater peace and stability to its workers."
He also said that the local Government is also developing a plan with various lines of action to deal with the emergency in the coming months, both from the point of view of the reconstruction and the thousands of workers who maintain the activity in a temporary way.
