Reference values set for shrimp exports
(ARGENTINA, 11/21/2013)
The Federal Administrator of the Federal Administration of Public Revenue (AFIP) established new reference values for shrimp (Pleoticus muelleri) shipments abroad.
These values are contained in Annexes I 'List of goods with reference value' and II 'Destination Countries for goods.'
According to General Resolution 3539, published in the Official Gazette, FOB prices are fixed for the presentations of the resource in relation to the different destinations in order to adjust controls and protect the fiscal interests.
Furthermore, with this measure the Government seeks to avoid deviations from the usual values for this type of goods (undervaluing maneuvers).
Under the new rules, "the areas involved will have to prioritize the control of the value in those export destinations whose declared prices present a deviation that is higher than 20 per cent over the set reference value."
Fixed prices range from USD 4 to USD 8 per kilogram of shrimp that is frozen on land or onboard, depending on the classification and destinations, which expanded in comparison to the situation set in May 2012.
The destinations are divided into four groups:
- Group 9: African countries;
- Groups 11 and 12: European nations;
- Group 24: Asian countries.
Furthermore, the National Health and Food Quality Service (Senasa) reported that in the first eight months of this year, 35,864 tonnes of shrimp were exported, representing 29.6 per cent over the same period last year (27,652 tonnes).
