Biomar factories in Spain and France increased volumes significantly in 2009
BioMar Aims to Increase Competitiveness
(DENMARK, 6/20/2010)
The BioMar Group has integrated the management of its two factories in Spain and France in a move to increase competitiveness and simplify the organization.

Vice President of BioMar Continental Europe, Carlos Diaz, explains, “The move is a natural extension of the integration process we have done between the former Provimi Aqua factories and the original BioMar factories after the acquisition of Provimi Aqua in 2008. We expect that the joint management of the two factories will bring us further synergies both in terms of improved capacity utilization and in terms of liberating resources for product development, which will make us even more competitive in a market, where consolidation is progressing also among our customers.
The organisation of BioMar West Med will be headed by Francois Loubère, until now Managing Director of BioMar France, and as a result, Enrique Alvarez, previously Managing Director of ProAqua and later BioMar Spain will leave the BioMar Group. A joint management team for the two factories will be announced in the coming weeks.

Both factories increased volumes significantly in 2009, but we need continuously efficiency and the current very high price levels on some of the key raw materials also stresses the importance of being able to adapt feed recipes quickly to the changing reality of the market.
Therefore we need a very lean organization, but this does not mean that we will go on compromise with the service to our customers – actually we want to give even more emphasis to our ability to provide relevant technical support to our customers”, concluded Carlos Diaz.
The West Med market area of BioMar comprises all Mediterranean countries from Croatia to the Atlantic including the countries in North Africa. Contact information for BioMar sales offices in the region is unchanged.

About The BioMar Group
The BioMar Group is one of the leading suppliers of high performance fish feed to the aquaculture industry. BioMar’s main business areas are feed for salmon and trout in Norway, the United Kingdom, and Chile, and feed for trout, eel, sea-bass, and sea-bream in Continental Europe.
BioMar was established in Denmark in 1962 by a group of Danish fish farmers under the name Dansk Ørredfoder A/S. In 1988 BioMar was taken over by the crops and animal feed company Aktieselskabet Korn- og Foderstof Kompagniet (KFK) - a subsidiary to the Norwegian group Norsk Hydro - and thereby the international expansion of the company was started.
