Acme Smoked Fish Introduces Two New Products

  (UNITED STATES, 12/13/2023)

Acme Smoked Fish is debuting two new unique smoked fish products to kick off an exciting year ahead full of product innovation.  Sesame Crusted Smoked Yellowfin Tuna and two Lox in a Box Snack Kits combine Acme’s creativity together with four generations of expertise from the family-owned fish smoker.  The new products will first preview at Acme’s popular Fish Friday Outlet in Brooklyn, and will be available for nationwide distribution in January.

Acme’s new smoked Sesame Crusted Smoked Yellowfin Tuna marks the first branded cold-smoked tuna product on the market.  Noting tuna’s ongoing popularity – tuna consumption is at 53% in the U.S. second to salmon’s 74%[1] — Acme’s team set out to deliver an exceptional tasting experience with the highest quality fish and ingredients, offering an everyday indulgence that can elevate any meal.

Acme’s new smoked Sesame Crusted Smoked Yellowfin Tuna is expertly smoked, brushed with toasted sesame oil, then coated in sesame seeds.

The product begins with premium yellowfin tuna that is wild-caught and sustainably-sourced. After curing the fish, Acme’s experts lightly cold smoke the tuna before brushing the filets with toasted sesame oil and coating them with sesame seeds.  The result?  Mouth-watering tuna ready to enjoy atop a salad, in a grain or pasta dish, rolled up in sushi or as an entrée. The 3oz. single serve package offers 20 grams of protein per serving.

“Our goal with Sesame Crusted Smoked Yellowfin Tuna is to fill a big gap in the market with a craveable flavor profile and the top quality we are known for.  The light smoke and umami-like sesame flavors on the tuna make for an irresistible taste,” says Matt Ranieri, Ph.D., the Vice President of Technical Services at Acme who oversees product R&D.  “Customers who love their smoked salmon routine are going to fall for this flavor-packed tuna.”

The new Lox in a Box Snack Kit offers the ease that you love with the added bonus of protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and calcium.

Healthful snacking is on the rise in the U.S.: 49% of consumers enjoy 3+ snacks per day, and 57% of consumers want high protein snacks.[2]  To meet this increasing demand, the single-serve snack kits feature Acme’s signature cold smoked salmon to be enjoyed two ways, while packing in 12 grams of protein per serving.  Lox lovers can now enjoy their favorite smoked salmon in a new fun and convenient way at home, at the office or on the go.

The new Lox in a Box Snack Kit is available with Cream Cheese or Avocado Spread.  The Lox in a Box Cream Cheese Snack Kit (3 oz) includes Acme’s smoked salmon along with cream cheese, artisanal crackers and a utensil, so it can be enjoyed anywhere from the picnic table to the conference room.  The Lox in a Box Avocado Toast Snack Kit (4.25 oz.) makes an avocado toast available within moments, with the same silky smoked salmon and crackers, plus a lively, well-spiced guacamole spread.  Acme’s approachable and brightly-packaged kits are designed to catch the eye on the shelf to introduce this fun and easy snack experience.

“We’re thrilled to introduce our customers’ favorite fish as a convenient and delicious snacking option.  Because smoked salmon is a regular snack in our office and at home, we reveled in thinking outside the box for how to creatively deliver lox as a snack,” says David Caslow, co-CEO of Acme Smoked Fish. “As the market leader, adding an on-the-go snack kit to our product portfolio allows us to provide an on-trend snack that’s accessible and easy to enjoy.”

Acme recently refreshed its visual brand to showcase a more approachable and modern look and feel. The company heads into 2024 with plans to debut new packaging and products to welcome more people to experience smoked fish in new ways.  For customers looking for inspiration and recipes, the company’s recently refreshed website offers both, with a look behind the scenes at smoked fish craftsmanship in Brooklyn and around the world.
