Frozen hairtail imports by October increased 9%
(SOUTH KOREA, 11/6/2023)
Frozen hairtail imported in October 2023 amounted to 1,282 tons, a 7% decrease from 1,381 tons in the same period last year, and the total import amount was 11,477 tons, a 9% increase from 10,539 tons of the previous year, accounting for 1.5% of the total fishery product imports of 785,410 tons.
As of October, 2,995 tons of frozen hairtail were imported from Morocco, 2,553 tons from Senegal, 1,311 tons from Ecuador, 1,175 tons from Oman, and 954 tons from Venezuela.
The import price of frozen tapefish by country was the highest for those of Japanese origin with USD 8.19/kg, the lowest for those of Moroccan and Senegal origin with USD 2.97/kg, USD 4.09/kg. kg for that of Omani origin, USD 2.33/kg for that of Ecuador and USD 1.75/kg for that of Somalia.
The average import price was USD 3.36/kg, a 9% increase from USD 3.09/kg the previous year.
The import amount in October was USD 4.72 million, a 115% increase from the previous year's USD 2.19 million, and the cumulative import amount was USD 38.53 million, an 18% increase from USD 32.53 million in the same period last year.
