SeaPak Makes Great Seafood Easy

  (UNITED STATES, 6/13/2011)

SeaPak Shrimp Company has been a trusted source for providing Americans with premium quality seafood products since 1948.

As a seafood- industry leader, the company has strict quality, sourcing and sustainability standards for its products. SeaPaK works with a select group of suppliers who follow the most environmentally responsible harvesting practices, and exercises strict oversight over every aspect of product procurement and processing.

SeaPak Shrimp Company is the number one retail brand within the frozen speciality seafood category

50 percent of SeaPak’s seafood is wild-caught. The company strives to source from Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified suppliers on wild-caught seafood.

The company also relies on certified sustainable aquaculture. Currently, 95 percent of SeaPak’s aquaculture products are certified by the Aquaculture Certification Council (ACC), as being made using Best Aquacultural Practices (BAP), and SeaPak’s goal is to achieve ACC certification on the remaining aquaculture items in 2011.

SeaPak's line of shrimp products includes Jumbo Butterfly Shrimp, Popcorn Shrimp, Shrimp Scampi,
SeaPak's clam strips
Tempura Shrimp and Coconut Shrimp. More than 90 percent of SeaPak’s core shrimp raw material is sourced either in the United States or in Central/South America. The remaining 10 percent, sourced from Thailand and China, balancing the company’s supply needs.

Other SeaPak products include some of the finest salmon, tilapia, pollock and crab products on the market today. The salmon used in SeaPak’s delicious and popular Salmon Burgers is wild-caught in Pacific waters, primarily from Alaska and Japan. ACC-certified tilapia used in SeaPak's Tilapia Tenders is sourced from China, home to nearly 90 percent of the world's tilapia supply. It is raised by the most respected fish farmers in China in remote, pristine freshwater lakes.

Thailand is the source of the Blue Swimming Crab used in the company’s crab cakes. The country is renowned for having the best quality blue crab in the world. Its taste and texture are unsurpassed.

The mild, flaky Alaska Pollock used in SeaPak's new Popcorn Fish is wild caught in the Pacific Ocean, and is getting outstanding taste reviews all over the country.

Eighty-five percent of SeaPak products are processed in the United States at the company’s Brownsville, Texas, manufacturing plant. The plant is certified by the British Retail Consortium (BRC), regarded as the benchmark for best quality and safety practices within the food industry. The facility will also be ACC-certified by the end of 2011.
