At La Guardia (Pontevedra), on March 15th, 1996 ORGAPU -Organización de Palangreros Guardeses- was established to regulate, develop and encourage business longline vessels fishing in fresh and frozen, and defend, represent to manage the interests of the members of this organization may adopt the necessary measures to ensure the rational exercise of fisheries and improve the conditions of sale of production of its members.

OR.PA.GU., is made up of the most representative fleet in Europe in the surface longline modality, made up of 37 vessels.

The type of fishing carried out by the vessels belonging to this organization corresponds to the modality of high and high-altitude surface longlines, mainly targeting the swordfish and related species. 

OR.PA.GU. it has vessels present in all seas, with fishing units in the Pacific, Indian, North Atlantic and South Atlantic oceans.
