El Portomayor, a 35-meter-long Marín fishing vessel, is currently serving 23 days of retention in the port of Guinea Conakry, where he was accused of illegal fishing after the defaults of his consignee and despite having the approval of the judge to carry out downloads.
The Guinean fisheries minister, Frédéric Luou, met yesterday with the Spanish ambassador to the country, José Leandro Consarnau, and the shipowner, Óscar Estévez. As explained by the latter, he could not justify why he had ordered the retention of the ship. The consignee, in addition, has reacted to the demand of the Galician shipbuilder with a complaint of defaults. "Today we will submit a complaint to rebut it," Estévez explains.
The businessman relies on a court ruling for next week, although in the meantime he can only access the boat in cayuco - he is at anchor - because he has been ordered to leave the dock due to lack of space.
