CHILE

Nissui Corporation announced on December 16, 2025, that it has finalized a deal to acquire PESQUERA YADRAN S.A. (PY), a prominent salmon farming company in Chile, for a price of $133 million.
The move is a significant step in realizing the Japanese seafood giant's long-term corporate vision, which targets aggressive growth in its aquaculture business.

The acquisition was carried out by Nissui's consolidated subsidiary, SALMONES ANTARTICA S.A. (SA), making PY a wholly owned subsidiary. The shares were purchased from sellers Inversiones Yadran S.A., Chile Market Limitada Servicios y Asesorias Financieras, and Inversiones Crucol Limitada. As a result of this transaction, PY and its six subsidiaries, including Cultivos Yadran S.A. (CY) and Empresa de Servicios Quellon S.A., will also become wholly owned subsidiaries of Nissui. Given that PY's capital is equivalent to at least 10% of Nissui's own capital, PY is expected to be classified as a specified subsidiary.
Nissui, led by President Teru Tanaka (pictured), has set a long-term goal to establish a stable business portfolio by 2030, with the Food Products and Marine Products Businesses equally balanced. Key growth drivers include overseas businesses, the Fine Chemicals Business, and, most importantly, the aquaculture business. Aquaculture is identified as a priority area expected to achieve an operating profit margin of 10% or more, which is crucial for improving the profitability of the entire Nissui Group.
The combined 2024 performance of SA and PY will immediately boost Nissui’s total production capacity in Chile to over 60,000 tons, exceeding the company's prior 2030 target of 50,000 tons for Chilean production. PY brings expertise in farming and processing fresh Atlantic salmon, a species experiencing expanding global demand, and possesses established sales channels, notably to the U.S. market.
Through this acquisition, Nissui aims to expand the overall scale of its aquaculture operations, enhance its processing and sales networks, and achieve efficiency improvements, such as optimizing the balance between fish species and farming sites. The company plans to leverage its global logistics and value chain strength, branded as Nissui Global Links, to create significant synergies and enhance the resilience of its entire value chain.
