The Seajoy Group is one of the largest producers of Central and South American Premium farmed raised shrimp for European and American markets.
Seajoy produces All Natural non GMO Pacific White Shrimp and Organic Certified Shrimp. The demand for organic products has grown over recent years, at the present time you can buy certified organic shrimp in most developed countries, but what exactly is organic shrimp? In general, organic shrimp is grown using methods that respect the environment.
Seajoy's farms, hatcheries and processing plants are Best Aquaculture Practices Certified.
The crop requires organic post-larvae, absolutely no use of chemicals and antibiotics, strict animal welfare and the closest approximation with its natural environment.
Organic harvest to packaging on the same day, ensures a preservative-free product. The Seajoy Group (certified organic since 2009) produces and sells premium organic quality shrimp. The company’s philosophy of production is to meet the needs of the present without compromising the production for future generations.
Seajoy is an environmentally responsible company which considers the potential environmental impacts generated by the production and operation of the company.
It takes about 90 days for Seajoy’s shrimp to grow from the time it is stocked into the ponds. The farms in the Gulf of Fonseca average three growing cycles a year. The green color of the ponds is indicative of healthy algal populations that serve to feed the shrimp as naturally as possible.
Seajoy's processing plant.
Seajoy’s processing plant, Deli Honduras S.A., is strategically located near the farms. This location gives the capacity to produce the highest quality shrimp, because shrimp arrive to the plant in a very short time. Seajoy controls all aspects of production from egg to finished product; it has complete traceability and total control over quality. The on-site microbiological laboratory and quality control program allows to assure the safety and quality of the product.
Seajoy's hatcheries, Larvicultura del Pacifico S.A., located in the Gulf of Fonseca and Semillas Acuaticas on the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua
With 6,000 square metres, Seajoy’s processing plant is one of the largest and most modern shrimp processing plants in the region, capable of producing more than 100,000 pounds of finished product a day. About 60 percent of the production is value-added, including peeled and deveined shrimp, butterfly cuts, skewers, raw breaded and cooked shrimp. The cold storage capacity has one million pounds of finished product.
All Seajoy’s farms, hatcheries and processing plants are Best Aquaculture Practices Certified and the Organic Pacific White Shrimp are Certified to the European Unión Organic standard by QCS.
About 60 percent of Seayoy's production is value-added shrimp.
