Salmones Friosur S.A. acquired production rights and permits for the construction of fish farms and 20 licenses from Pacific Seafood Aquaculture SA, company that is part of Lerøy Seafood Group ASA (LSG), Norway.
According to the report by LSG at the Oslo Stock Exchange, these licenses had been acquired in mid-2007 as part of the purchase of Veststar Holding AS, which is also Norwegian.
While the value of this transaction totalled USD 9.5 million, net of estimated taxes, LSG expects total utility will be positioned slightly below USD 8 million.
Among the 20 licenses, 17 would be located in the Aysen Region and the others in the Lakes Region, La Tercera newspaper informed.
In 2012, Friosur bought Pesquera Landes S.A. for about USD 36 million.
Lerøy chairman of the board, Helge Singelstad, explained that as part of the sale, 11 farming concessions were exchanged.
"Four of these have been previously in use, but Friosur rented them," said the businessman.
Friosur is ranked in 19th place in the list of the leading exporters of Atlantic salmon and trout in Chile.
To November 2012, it recorded exports by 8,441 tonnes and revenues of USD 46 million, Aqua reported.
Friosur owns six farms located on the coast of the Eleventh Region of Aysen: Camello, Chacabuco, Manco, Isla Elena, Renaico and Santa Maria del Mar.
