Chief Operating Officer Derek Figueroa has brought the insight, acumen and credibility of a true leader. He personifies the Seattle Fish Company’s long-standing commitment to a quality product and deep, fresh knowledge – yet he still stands for the vigor and vibrancy on which the company and its customers thrive.
Figueroa ensures sound long-term financial management and strategy, and also oversees operations, information technology and process improvement. He handles daily general management for the Iacinos, the family that has carried on the company’s legacy for three generations.
Figueroa’s dedication reaches beyond his role with the largest purveyor of fresh and frozen seafood in the Rocky Mountain region. For 17 years, Figueroa has been a volunteer ski instructor for the National Sports Center for the Disabled, one of the largest outdoor therapeutic recreation agencies in the world.
Figueroa is a member of the National Fisheries Institute, the leading advocacy organization for the seafood industry, and currently serves on the Colorado Restaurant Associations, Government Affairs Committee. He was nominated to the Customer Advisory Board for AFS Technologies, a Seattle Fish Company IT provider. He is actively involved with the CU Executive MBA Alumni Association, and in 2003 participated in the Future Leader program. In addition, Figueroa is a 2008 Leadership Denver graduate and was recently honored by the Denver Business Journal as a “Forty Under 40” leader in the business community.
Figueroa holds a bachelors in finance, executive MBA and a masters degree in finance from the University of Colorado. He lives in Denver with his wife, son and daughter. In his spare time he enjoys biking, skiing and embracing the Colorado lifestyle.
