OPMEGA is an OP with a national scope recognized by the Order of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of 30 December 1986 (Official State Gazette no. 23, dated 27.01.1987) as OPP-18.
Originally formed in 1986 as OPMAR, it changed its name to OPMEGA in 1996.
Since its founding, OPMEGA has brought together producers from all the Galician estuaries where efforts are being made and efforts are being made to improve and defend the interests of its producers and its Galicia mussels.
OPMEGA is the most representative organization of the Galician mussel sector and is present in all jurisdictions, both autonomous and national, where the interests of the sector are debated and defended.
At the moment it is integrated by 753 ratfs and 522 associates grouped in 11 delegations distributed in the estuaries of Muros and Noia, Arousa, Pontevedra and Vigo.
