Secret Island Salmon proudly sources its seafood from Chiloé, an island located off the Patagonian coast in Southern Chile. From a Pincoya mermaid that controls the fates of fishermen, to a sunken forest wrapped in illusions, Chiloé has a rich history that’s full of beliefs, myths and legends. All of these traditions reflect the importance of the sea to Chilote culture and Secret Island Salmon will continue this by providing the world’s most legendary salmon.
Our Mission
Secret Island Salmon is committed to the mission of making sustainable seafood accessible to all in order to promote healthy, thriving communities. They offer convenient and affordable seafood, making it easier than ever for consumers to enjoy the finest salmon at- home, no matter where they are located.
Our Reason for Being
The importance of sustainability, especially in seafood, is understandably at the forefront of many people’s buying decisions. Demand for seafood is expected to more than double by 2050, which presents multiple issues for the wild capture fishing industry and the health of wild fish stocks. Unfortunately, high demand also means overfishing. Experts are predicting that wild-caught seafood is expected to collapse by 2050 due to this demand.
Studies estimate that by 2030 62% of all seafood produced for human consumption will come from aquaculture. Today it is more than 50 percent. We’re proud to work on the forefront of making sustainable seafood more accessible and believe that sustainable, accessible, aquaculture is an able to help create healthy people, a healthy planet and thriving communities.
