FIFAX Ab was incorporated in 2011 and is based in Finland.
Fifax Ab is planning to build a land-based RAS-facility (Recirculating Aquaculture Systems) in Åland Islands, with the intention to conduct industrial aqua farming of rainbow trout. The project is a significant investment in Åland. Helmet Business Mentors Oy and investors presented by Helmet with Government of Åland, solid insurance companies and the EU fisheries fund are behind the project.
The facility will become one of the most significant Nordic producers of rainbow trout and it’s annual production volume will be approx. 3 000 tons of fish. The RAS-technology is a modern, the most environmentally friendly and efficient method of producing premium quality rainbow trout.
The supplier of the facility is Norwegian listed company, AKVA Group, which is the global leader in delivering technology to the aquaculture industry. Deliveries will take place all year round and the environmental friendliness is a strong competitive edge. In addition, customers' requirements for quality, transparency, green values ??and sustainable development continue to grow.
The building process will start in 2014 and the deliveries of first rainbow trouts to customers will start during 2016. AKVA group ASA, has entered into a contract with Fifax AB for delivery of land based technology for a total value of EUR 8.1 million.
