In January 2013, a Steering Group of fourteen fishermen, scientists, representatives from fisheries management and the supply chain, came together to create an agenda for a programme of workshops which specifically addresses those issues which fishermen themselves consider to be most critical to the future of their industry. The Steering Group were selected based on their experience, leadership and influence within the fishing sector and a full list of members can be found here.
The Steering Group began with the question ‘what do fishermen want and need to know more about in order to secure their future?’ and the group shared the concerns they and their colleagues have about the future of the UK fishing industry.
